Few genres garner as much heat from fellow readers as romantasy. 

Nothing more than steamy novels with explicit sex and some dragons.

Sometimes it feels as though the only way to prove yourself as a "serious" reader is through discrediting romantasy. 

For a genre often deemed inferior, romantasy receives a high level of scrutiny. 

And when one book falls short, the whole genre is generalized.

Let's address the spicy elephant in the room: 

A lot of people dislike spice. That's fair. Reader preferences matter and a person can dislike explicit content. But disliking intimate scenes and dismissing an entire genre are very different. 

Romantasy readers want what every reader wants; the best books possible, without feeling like they're less of a reader for enjoying them. 

Maybe the solution isn't about disengaging from criticism. Maybe the solution is to apply criticism to individual books instead of ridiculing an entire genre.

other

genre.
